Northchapel Radio Beacon

1. As in Walk 1, get on the A283 and head south in the direction of Petworth. When you come to the village of Northchapel take the first road to the left. After about a mile, where the road takes a sharp left you will see a FP sign straight on. Stop there and park – you will see the Air Navigational Radio Beacon on your right.
2. At the first X-road turn left, and when you reach the road follow the sign straight over. You will come to a T-Junction, where you turn right and then left shortly thereafter.
3. Carry on along this path, ignoring two FP’s to the left. At the third FP, you can go right for a shorter walk, otherwise turn left past Hayman’s Farm, and then turn right at Little Hayman’s farm.
4. Take the first FP to the right, and when you reach an X-road turn left. Follow this path until you join a minor road at Piper’s Cottage, and then turn right on to a slightly bigger road.
5. Along that road for about 10/15 minutes, then take a FP to the left just beyond Hammer Cottages. Follow this path, go straight over at the X-road – you should recognise it, and back to your car.

This walk has a lot of quintessential England; it is largely open country, so very hot on a hot day. One of my favourites.
