1. Leave Haslemere en voiture, past the Lythe Hill Hotel and turn right on to the A283. About a mile beyond Northchapel turn left at the sign pointing to Ebernoe and Balls Cross. You will shortly spot two FPs on the left close to the drive entrance to the Simmonds Saws shop. Park the car.
2. Take the right of the 2 FPs, following the direction of the finger post, as it is heavily grassed and not much sign of a path. Carry on until you reach an X-road and go straight over. This leads to a track which you cross and on to a minor road, where you turn left.
3. Ignore the first FP left and take the second one, which goes along the grounds of Ebernoe House. When you reach a T-junction, turn left. Over a Footbridge, and one third right across a field. Then follow the signs and when you come to an X-road, straight over.
4. The path goes through some fields, then back into the woods. It climbs gradually up and at the X-road at the top turn left. You are doing an inverted V.
5. (If you wanted to shorten the walk, carry straight on where the FP sign heads right and this then joins the track down). Keep going, and turn left at the next X-road. When you reach a tarmac road straight over,
At the next X-road turn right and you will recognise that that was the first X-road on your outward route. And so back to your car
