Fernhurst/Lurgashall Winery, Upperfold Farm.
1. Take the Midhurst road (A286) out of Haslemere towards Fernhurst/Midhurst. Take the first road left after clearing Fernhurst, at the bottom of the hill before The King’s Arms. Follow this road, turning right when you reach a ‘bigger’ road. You will pass a sign to the right to the Hurstfold Industrial Estate, and shortly thereafter a layby on your left. Park your car.
2. Follow the FP from the layby, very wet when it has rained, passing two lakes and ignoring two FP’s to the left. Follow this FP, ignoring one to the right until you reach a T-junction, where you turn right, then in a short time turn left at an X-road.
3. This will take you to the vehicular entrance to Blackdown Farm, and there you turn right to take you to the Lurgashall Road. Turn right at the road, past the Lurgashall Winery, and take the first FP to the right at Great Brockhurst Farm.
4. Follow this path, ignoring two FP’s to the right until you reach the road at Upperfold Farm. Turn right along the road, and back to your car.
This is a very wet walk, when there has been rain. Horses have made the paths through woods and copses very boggy and difficult to negotiate. Through the fields no problem.
